The Forward Deployed (“we,” “us”) is an independent resource about Forward Deployed Engineer roles. This policy explains what personal data we collect at theforwarddeployed.io, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you subscribe to email updates, we collect your email address, an optional name, and the “what are you preparing for” category you select. Submitting the form requires your explicit consent.

Technical data. To protect the signup form from abuse, our server briefly processes your IP address for rate limiting; it is not stored alongside your subscription. When you subscribe we also record which page you subscribed from.

Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics, which measures aggregate traffic without cookies and does not identify you individually.

Local storage. After you subscribe, we store a small flag in your browser so the site does not ask you again. It stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.

How we use it

We use your data to send the email updates you asked for, to understand aggregate site usage, and to keep the site secure. Under the GDPR, our legal bases are your consent (for email updates) and our legitimate interests (securing the form and measuring aggregate traffic).

Who we share it with

We use Loops (loops.so) as our email provider to deliver the newsletter; your email and name are processed by Loops on our behalf. We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may disclose data if required by law. Our providers may process data in the United States.

Retention

We keep your subscription until you unsubscribe. You can unsubscribe from the link in any email or by contacting us, after which your details are removed from our active mailing list.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the EU/UK GDPR or the California CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. Children

The site is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top reflects the latest version.
